Matt Speaks at United States Society for Ecological Economics Conference
Matt Orsagh spoke at the 2026 Ecological Economics conference in Oberlin, Ohio on the topic of Post-growth Pensions.
From June 18th to June 21st, 2026, the United States Society for Ecological Economics (USSEE) held their biennial conference.
Matt Orsagh attended the conference and spoke to attendees on the issue of post-growth pensions, which was highlighted in Arketa’s recent paper, A Path to Post-growth Pensions.
The USSEE is a satellite organization of the global International Society of Ecological Economics. This year’s conference had a degrowth track which helped expand the reach of the conference, helping to bring degrowthers into the Ecological Economics fold. The first day of the conference was hosted by The Degrowth Institute and focused on Ecological Economics from a post-growth perspective.
Other presentations at the conference covered a diverse set of issues from building better Ecological Economics models, to the role of money creation in climate change, to building degrowth-aligned businesses.
Arketa Institute made several strong connections at the conference with those in the Ecological Economics community. We hope to continue to work the USSEE and other like-minded organizations to continue normalizing the ideas of Ecological Economics and a post-growth economy.
